Death to the Ombre’

The title is a stark reminder of fashion trends that come and go, and who is with me on this one? I loved the Ombre’ and all of the different take’s on it, but I am so ready for it to move on into our rear view so we can move forward. Khloe Kardshian has just made that move and I hope the trend follows. Let’s take a look back at what the Ombre’ brought back to us as an industry. It put hair painting or Baliage back on the map and made it a fashion icon again. It allowed us to think out side of the foil and use multi-dimension colors and just have fun with it. It has opened our clients minds up to roots, regrowth, demarcation lines and that a full head foil, or high light is just that, a high light not a full blown bleach out and tone. It set forth to subtle tones of warm and cool blondes and light browns. It took the bleach blonde and softened it down and introduced apricot, strawberry blonde, and warm golds back to the blonde family where they belong. It introduced base braking and bleach washing and allowed that level 1 or 2 client to experience levels 5 through 8 if they wanted to. It was a breath of fresh air and I have enjoyed all of the wonders that go along with the Ombre’ and for that I applaud it. None the less I am happy to see it slowly leave but know that it is not forgotten.

So profession stylists both future and present remember that during this time and history in our fashion culture anything goes and that we embrace the past and future of our trending styles no matter how much we think they will never be back in style. Learn to think out side of the foil and box and keep your clients wanting more.
